As a young man he drove cattle from Oregon to Wyoming a couple of times before remaining in Wyoming. At the age of 26, he became a ranch manager for the Marquis de Mores in the Medora area of the Dakota territory. "Goodall was associated with the Marquis de Mores for a number of years in charge of his cattle and cattle ranches in which capacity he became well acquainted with Theodore Roosevelt."---Graff 478.
