First edition. 8 1/2"x 11" paper printed on one side and a typed letter on the other side. The letter is addressed to R. E. Cofer, Attorney, at Gainesville, Texas, and sent by H. A. Ivy, Secretary of the Texas Local Option Association, and dated April 24, 1905. Mr. Ivy expresses his concern over the news that Cooke County had voted "dry" but the vote was tied up due to court proceedings. Ivy expresses his concern and asks Cofer what he plans to do about the situation and to provide what he knows of the causes because this type of information is needed for guidance in the future. The other side is a printed Local Option Map Of Texas showing the "Dry" and the "Wet" Territory The color code for the map is White means "Dry", Black means "Wet," and Gray means "Partially Dry." Also lists the officers of the Texas Local Option Association and their stated objectives: Purpose- To help complete the overthrow of the rum power in Texas; Motto - The only successful remedy for the drink evil is no drink shop; Hope - A school house on every hill and no saloon in the valley; and Plan - Organize and vote the dram shops out- co-operate with local officers and keep them out. Faint fold creases and light edge wear, else a very good copy.
