Sheridan and Brevet Major General G. A. Custer. Sheridan's report of December 24, 1868 notes that despite tensions and hostile demonstrations by the Kiowas and Comanches Sheridan was continuing to hold Satanta and Lone Wolf with expectation that they will be hung. Custer's report of December 22, 1868 is in regard to his return to the battlefield of the Washita for the first time since the battle. He tells of the discovering Elliott and his men,providing detailed descriptions of the many wounds found on the bodies of Major Joel Elliott and his 17 men. Much information regarding current problems and hostilities in the Indian Territory. Fine condition.
