First Edition. Disbound. 18pp. Senate. 51st Congress, 1st Session. Ex. Doc. No. 88. A record of the correspondence between Lieutenant General P. H. Sheridan and Brigadier General Georg Crook in regard to the Apache Indians during the period of March 26 and April 5, 1886. This was the period in which Crook negotiated a surrender of Geronimo, only to have Geronimo change his mind and escape again. Most important is the inclusion of Crook's report of the "Conference Held March 25 and 27, 1886, at Canon De Los Embudos, 20 Miles S.SE. of San Bernardino Springs, Mexico, Between General Crook and the Hostile Chiricahua Chiefs." Present were: Geronimo, Catle, Chihuahua, Nachita, Captains Roberts and Bourke, Lieutenants Maus, Faison, and Shipp, Dr. Davis, Mr. Strauss, Mr. Moore, Mr. Daly, Mr. Fly, Ka-e-at-te-na, Alchisay, Charlie Roberts, Interpreters Concepcion, Jose Marie, Antonio Bresias, and Mr. Montoya. An interesting account of a very frustrating event in General Crook's and the U.S. Army's efforts to end the difficult campaign against Geronimo and his small band of hostile Apaches. Fine.
