First edition. 8vo. Cloth, xv [1], 287 pp., acknowledgments, introduction, illustrations, plates, portraits, afterword, notes, bibliography, index. A biography of Timothy Isaiah "Jim" Courtright, 1845-1887. "Longhair Jim" was at various times city marshal, deputy sheriff, deputy U.S. marshal, private detective, and hired killer. He was killed in a shootout with Luke Short in Fort Worth in February 8, 1887. Today, he is almost forgotten, either as a gunfighter or a lawman, except in Fort Worth. Fine in fine dust jacket. A must for all those interested in the legends of the West, its lawmen, and its outlaws.
