In Texas 1865, Babb and his sister were taken captive by the Comanches. Their mother was killed during the raid, and he eventually became a warrior of the tribe. After some time as a Comanche warrior, he was returned to his father. “A memoir by Theodore Adolphus “Dot” Babb, recounting his harrowing experiences as a captive of the Comanche tribe in 18651. At the age of 13, Babb, along with his sister and a visiting widow, was captured by Comanches near Decatur, Texas. His mother was killed during the raid. During his captivity, Babb was initially threatened with death but was spared and eventually adopted by the tribe. He was forced to participate in raids and battles, gradually becoming integrated into the Comanche way of life. The memoir provides a vivid account of the brutal realities of frontier life and the complex relationships between captives and their captors. There are several photographs of noted Indian chiefs and warriors, information on the Texas Rangers, and much on Quanah Parker. The first edition of this title was originally published in 1912, and is considered to be rare today, and this second edition is considered to be very scarce.
