Publication: J B Lippincott Company, 1943, Philadelphia and New York
First edition. Pseudonym of Cornell Woolrich. Fine, bright copy internally clean and tight in a bright dust jacket with light professional restoration to the spine ends and corners. Otto Penzler says in Cornell Woolrich Part II, page 4, "The first short story collection published by Cornell Woolrich under any name, and a book so difficult to find in true collector's condition that it may legitimately be termed rare. The words 'First Printing' must appear on the copyright page." Five short stories, I WOULDN'T BE IN YOUR SHOES, LAST NIGHT, THREE O'CLOCK, NIGHTMARE, and PAPA BENJAMIN. A very difficult and elusive title. Filmed by United Artists in 1956 as Nightmare and starred Edward G. Robinson, Kevin McCarthy, and Connie Russell.
