Fine, attractive, color railroad poster 61 cm. x 45.5 cm., [24" x 18"]. The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, simply referred to as "Santa Fe" due to its distinct logo, played a large part in the westward expansion of rail lines in the U.S. The company invested significantly in the promotion of its routes throughout the 20th century. One of the most well known artists commissioned by Santa Fe was Taos, New Mexico-based Don Perceval, who first visited the Hopi mesas of northern Arizona in 1927 and later did a series of railway posters. Featured here is Perceval's 1949 depiction of a Hopiland Buffalo Dancer performing a ceremonial rite against an adobe filled background. Image and colors are bright. Fine copy.
