The color folding map is titled "New Map of the State of Texas As It Is 1874, Prepared Expressly For Morphis', History of Texas .... G. W. & C. B. Colton." The map is 48 x 66cm [19" x 26"], with an ornate vine border; insets of the Panhandle, Matagorda Bay, Texas in 1835, Galveston Bay, Sabine Lake, etc. Raines' Bibliography of Texas says: "One of the most difficult nineteenth century books to obtain in collector's condition and with the Colton map." Light wear to head of spine, else a very good, tight and internally clean copy of a difficult title.
