Volumes I and II provide the basic history of Texas, Fort Worth and Northwest Texas. Events such as the various battles for independence, including the Alamo, battle of Gonzales, San Jacinto campaign, the Mexican War, etc., border and frontier troubles, secession, reconstruction, railroad building, public highways, the live stock industry, outlaws and lawmen, mineral resources, petroleum, timber and lumber, and much more. Volumes III and IV provide portraits and biographical information on pioneers and builders of Fort Worth and the Texas northwest area. Six Guns 1666 says, "Volume II contains information about Luke Short, Jim Courtright, and Ben Thompson." Herd 1747 says "Volume II contains a chapter on livestock." Near fine copies housed in a cloth slipcase with leather label on spine with titles stamped in gold.
