6" x 8" in thick pictorial boards with small illustrations of the lighthouse and canal locks on the front cover. Title in white script and boards tied with twine. Collection of 23 plates separated by tissue, depicting the building of the canal and scenes in Panama during the early part of the 20th century; plates include steam shovel in Culebra Cut, Panama City Cathedral and Cathedral Plaza and Park, gate at Gatun Locks, tower of old Panama, street scene in Cristobal, and Miraflores Locks, rivetters working on Gatun Lock Gate, Hotel Tivo, the Admin Building in Colon, Lock Gates at Pedro Miguel, the Sanatorium at Tabogo Island, Puerto Bello Fort, etc. 1/2" closed tear to first plate (not affecting picture). The remaining sketches are fine and with the original tissue dividers still in place and attached to the spine. Covers are soiled, scraped and chipped at edges along with a 1 1/2" x 1/2" chip to edge of front wrapper.
