He later became a Deputy Marshal in Indian Territory, and was celebrated for capturing the outlaw Bill Doolin. He was Sheriff of Lincoln County, Oklahoma, a police chief, and an Oklahoma state senator. Tilghman was a lawman for almost 35 years and Bat Masterson called him "the greatest of us all." As new.
