First edition. Small broadside. Brevet Major General George Crook takes command of the Department of the Columbia and signs the General Order in manuscript. Issued at the end of the Snake War, where Crook had gained nationwide recognition for his aid in moving the Indian tribes along the Snake river (Northern Paiute, Bannock, and Western Shoshone) to reservations. Fine condition and laid into a four-point folding cloth case with leather spine label and titles stamped in gilt.
