Graff 2688 says, "The account of Rose's adventures supplements the stories of the Wyeth expedition and of the early fur trade days. Rose was captured by Indians, but escaped." Rose and Joe Lewis started from Pennsylvania to become fur trappers with the Nathaniel J. Wyeth's St. Louis Company. Rose later joined Jim Bridger, Milton Sublette, Kit Carson, Joe Meek, Bill Williams, and others, trapping and trading all over the Rocky Mountains and Oregon country. His journal forms a collateral journal in conjunction with some few known accounts of the times. Light general soiling and some minor edgewear. Very good-near fine copy. Protected in custom slipcase.
