Blue cloth, titles stamped in gilt on the front cover and spine, xiv, 220 pp., frontispiece, foreword, illustrated mostly from photographs, sources and comments, index. A thoroughly researched account of the history of Fort Davis from the time of the Spanish explorers. Includes information on Indian wars in West Texas with a chapter devoted to Colonel Grierson's month-long campaign against Victorio; Milton Favor, the first cowman west of the Pecos; Texas Rangers and outlaws; wagon trains; the coming of the telegraph and railway; and the fort's establishment as a national historic site. Former owner's inked name and date at top of front free fly leaf, front free fly leaf is lightly soiled with a bit of minor foxing, else very good tight copy in dust jacket with a small chip to the top edge of the front cover light wear to the spine ends, and a chip and crease to the top edge of the rear panel. Also laid-in to this copy is an old newspaper clipping that tells of the author's death.
