Publication: Edward H Bohlin, 1937, Hollywood

First Edition. Stiff Pictorial Wrappers. 232pp. Hundreds of Illustrations throughout. Born in Sweden, Bohlin came to America at the age of 17, "with a determination to achieve something worthwhile." He began his career as a cattle-puncher on a Montana ranch, and while thus engaged he conceived of the idea of making saddles of outstanding quality and originality. With this in mind, he moved on to show business, doing trick riding and roping, and eventually went to Hollywood, working on pictures. Bohlin began his business in Hollywood, quickly developing a reputation for the finest in decorative saddles, applying his skills with silver and gold ornamentation. This catalog presents hundreds of illustrations of the riding equipment and accessories, each described in detail, including Bohlin's beautiful and creative work with gold and silver. He became the Saddlemaker and Silversmith to the "Stars" of Hollywood. A very scarce and most interesting catalog, with prices listed on everything. This 1937 edition is the second printing of a catalog by Bohlin, the first of which was printed in 1927. Bohlin was a master craftsman in everything he did. His belts, buckles, spurs, chaps, holsters, vests, gloves, bits, bridles, saddles, and the like sell for thousands of dollars today, and his full dress parade outfits are sold in excess of $100,000. Bump at base of spine and some minor remnants of a sticker on the lower portion of the front wrapper. Illustration of a bucking horse and rider on front cover by western artist, Fred Harman. Very good copy, and quite rare.
