First edition. 9" x 1l” in colorful pictorial boards showing an Indian holding a shield that reads, "Colorado Midland Railway" on the front cover and a triangle that reads, "Pikes Peak Route" on the rear cover. Inside both covers are colorful illustrations of Native Americans. Information on hunting and trapping in the far west along the route traveled by Colorado Midland Railway, Manitou, General Ruxton, Pike's Expedition, the Ute War and the livestock industry., followed by all eleven chromolithographic images of Native Americans, mountain men and scenes of the lands that the railroad traversed with titles of Trappers at Frying Pan River; First Indian agent crossing the Grand at Grand Junction; Meeting at Manitou; A limited train (Stagecoach) in early days; Rev. Marcus Whitman; An Indian camp scene (double page fold-out); General Ruxton; General Pike; Meeker Massacre; Mining; and Broncho Breaking(sic) ... each with tissue preceding each image. Covers neatly reinforced and with first sheet of tissue wrinkled and with illustration at center with crease along edge though not impacting the picture. Front and rear boards, as well as spine are lightly rubbed and with a 2" split to toe of spine. A rare booklet, especially in this condition.
