The expedition was conducted against the Mariposa Indians." Cowan p.29. His companion on the trip was Colonel Henderson, who afterwards became famous as the capturer of Joaquin Murieta, "Three-fingered Jack", and several other California outlaws. A detailed account of the Indian campaign and the resultant discovery of what became Yosemite National Park. General modest edge wear and soiling, with heavier wear to spine ends and corners. Otherwise an uncommonly clean, tight copy of this very scarce work. Good-Very Good.
