Opened in 1880, Hotel Del Monte was the first true resort complex in the United State and was an immediate success, drawing the wealthy and influential of the day. Guests included Theodore Roosevelt and Ernest Hemingway, as well as many early Hollywood stars. Includes images of various sporting activities such as golfing, swimming, fishing & horseback riding; a birds-eye view of the Del Monte Golf Course and of Pebble Beach before its golf course; and 2 other maps.
