The dust jacket has been designed by Clayton Rawson, the noted author of the Great Merlini mysteries. A very scarce mystery by Goldman, an early pulp writer, who opens this story with Rufus Reed's assignment to cover the electrocution of Dan Hillyard, a bank robber and murderer of a policeman. Along the way a noted criminal lawyer plays his first and last game of "Solitaire" with a mysterious deck of cards.
