The murder of a shepherd whose body was found in a sheep hut near the little Australian town of Merino, and would have been written off as an unsolved mystery if Inspector Bonaparte hadn't noticed something peculiar about a photograph of the hut in which the body was found. Bony arrived in Merino in disguise and was promptly arrested and put into jail. He contrived to have himself put at the job of painting the police-yard fence, and from this vantage point, picked up information that helped him fit the pieces of the puzzle together. Attractive copy of this wartime publication. Crime Club mystery.
