Publication: Whitman Publishing Company, 1937, Racine
First edition. Big Little Book 1171. Former owner's name and address on front pastedown sheet, else fine in pictorial covers. Dan Dunn was partly responsible for Dashiell Hammett's Secret Agent X-9, says Borden & Posner in The Big Book Of Big Little Books, p.79, "William Randolph Hearst commissioned the crime strip [Secret Agent X-9], insisting that it contain "a hero who will combine the toughness of a detective like Tracy with the mystery of a secret operative like Dan Dunn." This was a tall order, and Hearst thought it could only be delivered by a writer with the gifts of Dashiell Hammett." An elusive title.
