Publication: Circa Late 1800s-Early 1900s, N P

Original, Unused Punchboard. Printed in Yellow and Black. 2 Panels bound with Cloth Tape, as issued. Each Panel: 6.875" x 13.5". Punchboard gambling pieces have been around since the seventeenth century. A major change came in the late 1880's when they could be manufactured with paper covering the front and back of each piece, as it prevented operators from cheating. They remained popular through the 1940's. Our Punchboard is entitled CRIPPLE CREEK MINING DISTRICT, across the top of each side. "10 CTS. A Prospect" "Paying Prospects Range In Value From 10cts To $1.00" "Cut Out Square Or Prospect, The Amount Of Merchandise You Receive Is Printed Underneath". Each side is 10 pinches wide and 20 punches long. Graphically this piece is attractive. Printed in black and yellow, it shows an accurate topographical map of the Cripple Creek to Victor, with much detail naming towns and mining locations: Cripple Creek, Mineral Hill, Cameron, Independence, Goldfield, Elton, Mound, Signal Hill, Victor, and many others. A rare old Punchboard with great graphics. As New.
