The cornerstone of the set is the first book in the the series, the first appearance of Cain's legendary Double Indemnity, adapted to the screen just a year later by Raymond Chandler and Billy Wilder, starring Barbara Stanwyck, Fred MacMurray, and Edward G. Robinson. Each volume is in a separate black cloth chemise, housed together in single custom black cloth covered slipcase with green morocco spine labels, with titles stamped in gilt. Included are Double Indemnity (1943), The Embezzler (1944), Career in C Major and Other Stories (1945), Sinful Woman (1947), and Jealous Woman (1950).
