A detailed response by the majority members of the Committee on the Pacific Railroad to criticisms published and reported by a minority of members of the same committee in regard to the reason why the Committee is recommending that the government should provide funding to various railroad companies to develop the railway system. An important report. The map is national in scope and is entitled "THE GREAT RAIL ROAD ROUTES TO THE PACIFIC, AND THEIR CONNECTIONS 1869". Produced by the American Photo-Lithographic Company, New York (Osborne's Process). In regard to railways, the map shows "Northern & Southern Pacific Trunk Lines", Completed Railways, and Projected Railways, with all projected railways shown in the western United States. It also shows most rivers and many mountain ranges, as well as cities and forts. Damage to short portion of bottom edge of text block, not effecting text. Some very minor foxing to the map. Very Good.
