A very well-assembled promotional, extolling the merits of the region for cattle-raising, statistics about the cattle herds, outlining the improvements the railroad was undertaking (a water works), and promising more (a line from Forest City to Deadwood in the Black Hills). Also information about the land, climate, transportation facilities, irrigation methods, and the populace. There is a map of the rail lines. The plates show such things as "branding scene on Timm's Ranch, Potter County, South Dakota." One plate, however, seems a trifle out of place in such a work: "A number of Indians in a Council of War after the shooting of one of their number by a white man....near Forest City." Light vertical crease to the center else a near fine, bright copy of a rare railroad promotional booklet.
