First edition. 8vo. Trophy Edition. Limited edition of 175 copies of which this is copy number 107. Signed on the half title page by the author and illustrator and Crosby's son. Also signed and dated on the front free fly leaf by the former owner, Ike Rude dated 1987. Ike Rude is an Oklahoma Cowboy Hall of Fame cowboy. Blue denim cloth with titles stamped on a leather label on the front cover and similar in color and design found sewn on the rear of denim jeans, tan front and rear endpapers with the words "Trophy Edition" applied, xii, 244 pp., foreword, introduction, illustrated. All illustrations by Olive Vandruff Bugbee. Robert Anderson "Bob" Crosby was born February 27, 1897 in Midland and raised around Kenna, N.M. where he became an experienced cowhand. His first time as a rodeo contestant was in 1923 when he entered a rodeo competition at New York's Yankee Stadium. At 13, he won his first rodeo title. Will Rogers encouraged him to enter larger rodeos. Crosby was a three-time World All-Around Champion (1925, 1927 & 1928) and permanent holder of the Roosevelt Trophy (on display at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame) in Oklahoma City. Crosby was inducted into the Rodeo Hall of Fame of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in 1966; the Pendleton Round-Up and Happy Canyon Hall of Fame in 1974; and the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in 1983. He died on October 20, 1947. Quite rare to have this edition come on the market. Moffat County souvenir laid-in with ranch brands and their owner's names. Minor rubbing to the corners, else a fine, bright copy.
