First edition. Author's first book. Pseudonym of Alfred B. Harbage, a college professor and eminent Shakespearean scholar. Fine in dust jacket with light restoration to the spine ends and corners. This story is set in the university and is a hard-boiled novel involving the murder of a college professor. Sam Phelan was assigned the case and he felt somewhat out of place, first of all because he had never been to college, second, the D. A. was an "old grad" and violently disapproved of him, and third the murdered professor's colleagues, not to mention the students, took unmerciful advantage of his simplicity. Through it all he solved the case. An excellent debut and a splendid story.
