Other works by J. C. DYKES

Publication: University of New Mexico Press, 1952, Albuquerque

First edition, second printing, with minor corrections. 8vo. C. M. Russell frontispiece, 186 [4] pp. Ink inscription on the front free fly leaf "For Ray--- My first excursion into the field of bibliography -- still a pretty good example from a maverick in the field -- Jeff." On page 7 is another inked message by Jeff Dykes as follows : "For Ray - Both the committee (on publications) and the editors were a mite ashamed of this bib but felt some better when the first printing sold out in three months - now the Press wants Volume Two and if time doesn't run out on me, I'll do it - J. C. (Jeff) Dykes." Laid-in are three 4" x 6" color photographs that picture current family relatives of John Henry Tunstall. The photographs were taken at the Tunstall Store. Lincoln, New Mexico in July 2010. Bound in modern full brown cloth with leather spine label and titles stamped in gilt, with original printed wrappers bound-in 186 pp., frontispiece (from a sketch by Charles M. Russell), preface, acknowledgments, a tentative classification, index. The first attempt at a complete list of materials on The Kid, books, articles, movies, songs, etc. The annotations are excellent. " A model work on a single person," says Lawrence Clark Powell in Southwestern Book Trails. A small tear at the upper margin of the front free fly leaf near the gutter, else a near fine, tight and internally clean copy, plus Jeff Dykes' comments about this interesting and important contribution to Billy The Kid history.
