"A Historical Overview of Bell Ranch" by Donald R. Ornduff. Illustrated by Robert Lougheed with nine color paintings and dozens of drawings. A wonderful history of the famed 150-year old New Mexico ranch as told by its manager. Ellis was one of only six managers of the Bell Ranch in its 150-year-old history, and his narrative gives an intimate view of the people, of roundup and branding operations, and of herd improvement operations and marketing practices, and he blends personal vignettes of the people whose sweat helped build the Bell reputation. A folding map of the ranch is included in the rear pocket affixed to the rear pastedown sheet. Former owner's inked gift inscription and date on the front pastedown sheet, lacks the print by Lougheed, else a fine copy in housed in the original matching cloth slipcase.
