"This booklet issued under The Co-Operative Community Plan of Oregon-Washington Railroad & Navigation Co., Wm. McMurray General Passenger Agent. Planned and executed by Sunset Magazine Homeseeker's Bureau Portland, Oregon." An informative and well-designed promotional booklet for "The Astoria Centennial," a 30-day event to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Fort Astoria, an important early fur trade fort at the mouth of the Columbia River. Much of the booklet presents a history of Fort Astoria and the surrounding region. The rest presents in great detail the activities planned for each day of the 30-day celebration. In fulfilling its purpose of promoting The Astoria Centennial celebration, it describes such special features as Airships, Pyrotechnics, Regatta, Ocean Bathing, Parades, Music and Opera...quite special in 1911. The photographs are another highlight. Near Fine, and very scarce.
