Original Broadside. Black Printing on Stiff Tan Board. 7.625"x10.625". Reads as follows: "1874-1924, Don't Miss The BIG CELEBRATION, June 27-28,1924, 50TH ANNIVERSARY, Of The Famous Frontier Battle Of ADOBE WALLS, in which a few white men fought so valiantly against an overwhelming number of Indians." The Arrangements Committee is comprised of F. P. Reid, Chairman, from Pampa, Texas: Mrs. Olive K. Dixon, Secretary, from Miami, Texas; and Mrs. W. T. Coble, Secretary, from Amarillo, Texas. Mrs. Olive K. Dixon was the publisher of the classic biography of her famous husband, Billy Dixon; buffalo hunter, participant in the Battle of Adobe Walls, and later operator of the Turkey-Trot Ranch. In 1924 Mrs. Dixon led the successful effort to place historical markers at the Adobe Walls and Buffalo Wallow battle sites. The program is sponsored by the Panhandle Plains Historical Society, with it's president, Judge Thomas F. Turner to be master of ceremonies. Speakers to include Judge Nelson A. Phillips, formerly of the Supreme Bench of Texas; Judge Turner; William Elsey Connelly of the Kansas Historical Society; J. B. Thoburno of the Oklahoma Historical Society; President J. A. Hill of the West Texas State Teachers College, and others. Andrew Johnson of Dodge City, Kansas (who fought in the battle in 1874) will address the audience and promises to relate some history which has never been published. The two-day celebration was held on the famous battleground, on the north banks of the Canadian River, in Hutchinson County, 10 miles east of Plemons, near the Turkey-Track Ranch.
