Additionally there is an included letter dated August 18, 2024, and from Kevin M. Powell the son of British filmmaker Michael Latham Powell. The signed and notarized letter attests to the fact that Kevin's father signed and gave the book to him to remind him of the Irish side of his family via his mother and grandparents. First edition. 8vo. Brown boards, titles stamped in gilt on the spine, maps on front and rear endpapers, 175 pp., all fore-edges uniformly tanned, else a very good copy in a bright dust jacket with minor wear to the head of spine and a small chip from the foot of spine. Diarmuid O'Connell arrives in the west of Ireland, there has been a brutal murder there in a hunting camp of a father and his two sons and not a clue as to who did it or what the motive may have been. As Diarmuid assumes his role of a game keeper he begins also to learn about the country, its people, its history and its politics. Diarmuid's map of the area that appear on the endpapers provides helpful guidance for the reader. Michael Powell (1905 - 1990) was an English director, writer and producer. Among his more memorable films are "A Matter Of Life And Death," "The Red Shoes," "The Tales Of Hoffmann," and "Peeping Tom." He also authored a number of books.
