First edition. 12mo. Original cloth bound pictorial boards, 156 [3] pp., frontis., illustrated, preface. Six Guns 994 says, "scarce," and "One of the few books written about this outlaw." The majority of Rande's crimes were committed in the state of Illinois, but he was well known as the "Bold Bandit of the Wabash." His crimes ran from burglary to murder. Rande was chased over much of central Illinois by posse after he robbed and murdered his victims. He was a vicious criminal, and his life was full of blood-curdling escapades. After being sent to Joliet prison awaiting his execution, he attempted an escape an injured a guard in the process, but his attempt was unsuccessful. He committed suicide by hanging himself in his jail cell. Some pages moderately chipped due to age and the cheap paper, light wear to pictorial boards, else very good copy of an item that is becoming rare. Housed in a hand-crafted clam shell box of red cloth with a black morocco label stamped in gold on the spine.
