A dated inked gift inscription on the front free fly leaf, the front and rear fly leaves are uniformly tanned, light rubbing to the spine ends, corners, and extremities, else a very good copy of a rare book. The Ward, Lock reprint of 1905 has been erroneously catalogued as a first edition. This is a story of lies, bribery and deception. Money is the root to all evil.
