Publication: F J Hiscock, 1907, Cody, Wyoming
An 8" x 10" photograph that is matted to 12" x 14." This is a spectacular and oversized photograph signed W, F. Cody "Buffalo Bill." It is inscribed on the mat to "Mrs. Dave Shelley" and dated November 23, 1914." David Shelley (1868-1941) opened his Cody, Wyoming saddle shop in 1908 and kept it open until his death. He was known for his selection of western coats, boots, hats and other accessories. The studio image was printed by F. J. Hiscock of Cody, Wyoming and it pictures the great showman looking slightly off-camera and with an open book in his right hand. Both the brief inscription and signature have lightened through the years and the two lower corners and the bottom margin have a light old water stain that slightly touches a few letters of the inscription. Attractive and suitable for framing.
