First edition. 12mo. Blue printed, stapled wrappers, 59 pp., illustrated. Born in Rains County, Texas. Beginning in 1910, at 17 years of age, the author served 5 prison terms in Texas, 1 in Oklahoma, and 1 in the Federal Penitentiary in Atlanta, Georgia. Mills was convicted of various crimes including horse theft, armed robbery, and counterfeiting. This interesting account gives much detail of the brutality of life in Texas prisons and prison farms. Information of prison breaks in Oklahoma and Texas is also related. Light wear to the spine ends, small old water stain to a portion of the covers, else interior is clean and tight, else a very good copy.
