Publication: The Macaulay Company, 1931, New York
First U. S. edition. Originally published in the U. K. using the title The Poacher. Author's third mystery title. Fine, bright copy in dust jacket with minor wear to the foot of spine and one tiny chip to bottom edge of rear cover. In an attempt to reconcile his criminal brothers, a criminal on death row hides his loot, then writes the directions of where to find it, and tears the paper into four pieces and mails a section to each of the brothers. Instead of the brothers joining together, each brother strives to collect the missing scraps of paper for himself. Attractive copy.
