Genuine saddle leather, stamped in gilt on front cover and spine, ix [1], 55 pp., acknowledgements, foreword, illustrated, footnotes, bibliography, index. This book concentrates its efforts on one specific old western saddle manufacturing center: Cheyenne, Wyoming. Primary source diaries, old newspapers, and period documents were used to pinpoint exact dates of operation for the Gallatin, Meanea, and Collins saddle shops discussed in this study. Photographs of surviving "Cheyenne Saddles" are also included, so that the innovations and features of these old artifacts may be noted. This pictorial examination comprises the largest collection of Cheyenne saddlery ever presented. Fine, bright copy in cloth slipcase.
