In 1889, the town of Leadville was still prosperous due to the activity of silver and silver mining, but the city's fortunes declined in 1893, with the repeal of the "Sherman Silver Purchase Act." Views include: Birdseye View of Leadville from Carbonate Hill, Hotel Kitchen, Central School, Myers Sampler & St. Louis Smelter, A. Y. & Minnie Mines, Twin Lakes Hydraulic Mining, a Smelting Furnace, Sampling Bullion, Twin Peaks & Lower Lake, etc. Penciled gift inscription and book sellers red address stamp on inside, rear cover, penciled notation in the margin above one picture, else a near fine, bright example of this mining oriented view book.
