A detailed record of the many Indian raids and hostile incidents experienced by the early settlers of Montague County. The author's grandfather, Reece Bowen Stump, was a Texas Ranger, and shared many accounts with his grandson, developing the author's strong interest in the early history of the area. These accounts were originally written by the author circa 1940. A lengthy Memorial to the author is handwritten and signed by his wife, on the front free-endpaper; also stating the limitation to 200 copies. A fine, bright copy in dust jacket.
