First edition. Author's third mystery novel. Signed by the author on the title page. Fine bright copy in dust jacket. Famous mystery writer, Maurice Seton, is found dead at the bottom of a small boat -- both hands chopped off at the wrists. Although the post mortem shows that Seton died from natural causes, Dalgliesh is of a different opinion. This copy is housed in a cloth clamshell case with the dust jacket copy repeated on the front and rear covers and the spine panel. An exceptional copy of a scarce title.
